    Suzanne Deason is certainly interesting as an instructor and has created a program here that can used by anyone at any level. Her soft voice and gentle encouragement throughout the program is calming and aides you through to the end, which is the essence of the Yoga practice. If one wants a more challenging program then there are many others, but if you want an advanced introduction to the world of Yoga and an instruction that moves you through it with grace and technique, Suzanne’s program is certainly worth the participation.

    I like Suzanne Deason’s philosophy of weight loss: that there needs to be a mind/body connection if someone who is overweight will succeed at losing weight permanently. The emphasizes “conscious choices” and living in the moment, and explains how yoga can help you make the mind/body connection and make good conscious choices about food, exercise, and health. As Deason herself points out, this book has no magic bullet. What she does have to offer is a real solution for people who want to be HEALTHIER by reducing stress, moving your body, eating nutritious foods, and living in the moment.

  3. When it comes to weight loss, I am the type of person that doesn’t want to just be told what to do, I want to know why. Ms. Deason’s book appealed to me because she offered just that. About 2/3 of the book is devoted to various yoga poses, offering step-by-step instructions (with plenty of illustration), and a list of the benefits that each pose brings to your body. She effectively explained the “mind-body connection” that is inherent to yoga (which is a new concept to me), and the important role it plays in every aspect of your life. She does a wonderful job of speaking to the other key aspects of weight loss including nutrition, emotional well being, and striking a balance in a hectic world. Ms. Deason truly speaks to the importance of understanding your body and provides effective, practical tools that help set you on the path in the right direction. Informative, practical, and effective are three words I feel best describe “Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss. ” I recommend it to anyone that wants to gain a better understanding of both “how” and “why” yoga offers a healthy approach to life.
