Weight Loss with Kundalini Yoga
I started with Kundalini yoga 30 years ago, with a 3HO teacher, and just can’t get used to “gym yoga”. The thing about Kundalini yoga is, it works more indepth with the Kundalini, the body’s natural energy, than any other yoga I have done. It also concentrates more on Pranayama (breath). It’s not just about stretching! So, this Weight Loss yoga is not just about “feeling the burn”, it’s about the inner balance.

After taking a college class in Kundalini yoga, I was really excited to get a video that I could use on my own at home. The poses used are easy and the modeling is good. The sound on the tape is poor and makes it very difficult to use.

I really had doubts when I purchased this video. Would it work and be accessable and enjoyable to do? The answer is YES on all counts! It is absolutely delightful. If all you have done is Hatha type yoga, treat yourself to some Kundalini. This is not a particularly challenging video unless you have been away from exercise for a long time. The moves are simple and feel good. It is accessable to anyone. The “workout” part is nice and short (35 minutes I think) so is a “no excuser” The presentation is also very nice. There is a voice over from the instructor (who is friendly, lightly humorous, supportive and informative wihout being intrusive) and all the moves are done by his daughter. She is genuine and glowing. After the workout section there is a short little song to help you share your energy wealth and then a meditation section. Ohhhhhhhh so relaxing. There are two meditations using mudras. Both sections include basic breathing techniques. Even though they are basic they are effective and you can use them other times. Then there is a discussion of breating while walking. It is recommended that you walk everyday. Who can argue with that. After that comes a short section of diet, actually non diet. I find it relaxing, grounding and utterly addictive. It is not as challenging as some other Kundalini videos I have done but it is not intended to be I don’t think. It is supposed to help you move on out of the past and away from fear and into positivity concerning your eating. And it does. It is opening and soothing. I liked so much I am buying the 12 part course taught by the same instructor. Can’t wait to learn more! This is the yoga I have always looked for and now finally found!
