No brain drain here, just an easy workout you can take to your own level with the variations. Low-key jazz keeps it laid back, and PJ does a great job keeping spirits, and your heart rate, up where they belong. All the performers are good-looking, and I appreciate the presence of a gentleman and a senior woman. PJ reminds us along the way of the benefits of what we’re doing, and that keeps us motivated to sweat it out. No one gets injured doing these simple moves, but it doesn’t get boring either, as PJ adds arm and leg variations, and keeps changing the intensity throughout. A nice cool-down, stretch, and congratulations, you’re done!

I tend to work out for 30-45 minutes 5x per week. My workouts are usually a mix of cardio & weights. I guess I’m an inter/adv level.
I was looking for a light cardio workout to do on my sore days. I just can NOT handle Leslie Sansone’s personality. Happened to stumble upon this DVD while surfing around Amazon. It arrived last night & I just did it for my workout today.
I found the instructor a bit chatty – but not annoyingly so. The others in the group are fine except for one girl with poor upper body form who bugged me. It took a while to get my heart rate up. . . and I had to laugh when the instructor said this 3-mile walk would burn 300-350 calories. BUT eventually the walking, heel digs, side taps, side-steps, kicks, and lunges (all with arm work) got my heart pumping. The workout itself is very similar to Leslie’s. . . . mostly walking with segments of other leg work. Walk then kick, walk then heel digs, walk then side taps and so on. She keeps arms on hips at first ’til she’s sure everyone has the hang of things and then the arms get moving. Personally – I often added arms before she did just because I wanted to and felt energized enough to do so.
In the end, this 50 minute workout burned 353 calories for me per my HRM. It didn’t *FEEL* hard, which is just what I need for those slightly-sore days (LOVE my yoga DVDs for those REALLY-sore days!).
If you’re looking for a low-impact, simple choreography, walking DVD, I’d suggest getting this one. It will be one of my top choices for a lighter-workout. ENJOY!

I have been using low-impact cardio DVDs due to recent shoulder surgery and a nasty bout with plantar fasciitis. This workout is long enough to work up a sweat (50 minutes) and is easily modified. P. J. O’Clair cues very well so the transitions are smooth. The moves are pretty basic so someone who enjoys complex choreography would probably find the workout somewhat repetitive and not challenging enough. This was a good purchase for me at this point in my workout journey.

I am over 50 years old and needed a workout that was easy on my joints but still fun and would make me sweat without getting out of breath. This one did it all. I love it. The only problem is the menu setup – too many screens before you can start the workout portion. If it were not for all of the DVD screens, I would have rated this 5 stars.

I enjoyed this 45-minute walking workout. PJ leads five other exercisers in walking, heel digs, hamstring curls, knee lifts, and kicks, along with some upper body work (hands over head and back down, etc. ) to increase the intensity. I enjoy this type of walking workout — no spins, turns, plyo-jumps, etc. — just a straightforward way to work your heart and body for positive health benefits. PJ says we’ve walked three miles, and this seems right to me compared to other walking workouts I’ve done (ala Leslie. ) She makes sure to cool you down at the end as well, and takes you through some nice stretches. I also enjoyed the low-key, jazzy piano music, which is different from many other workouts I own. Loud, dancey music has its place, but this is definitely a nice change of pace – pun unintended!
