I found this book quite thought provoking, interesting and meaningful. I have not looked at eating patterns in this way before, but I will now. It is a “must read” for anyone. I can’t wait for the next book from Dr. Andrianopoulos, a Mediterranean Cook Book maybe? Keep writing.

The author writes to the audience and is easy to understand. Her work is backed by research and is down to earth real! I was so moved by her work I followed up with the website she holds for her practice.

Very interesting perspective on our relationship with food. Further, the concepts discussed in the book, and exercises presented, would apply not only to overeating but to many other negative behavioral patterns.

  4. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is much more than a weight loss book. The author is a physiologic psychologist and a brain expert. I learned a lot about the evolution of the human brain and how the structure of the brain effects our every day decisions. I believe many people have a general idea of how muscles work, but don’t understand how the brain works. This book describes how the brain works and explains how you can change the way you react to the brain’s signals, and change your behaviors. The author uses the analogy of training the brain to the way we train our muscles. By understanding how the brain works and training the brain to work to accomplish goals, you can successfully achieve those goals, such as weight loss and fitness.

Reading this book made the light go on for me. It seems obvious now, but the brain controls everything in the body. Understand the brain, train the brain, and you can control the body. Conversely, if you do not understand the brain and do not exercise the brain, you have no chance of taking control of your body. You can read every book printed on weight loss, exercise and diet, but unless you have a basic understanding of the brain you will not be able to change your habits. Even if you are not interested in losing weight this is an excellent book for describing how the brain works and how you can take control of your brain.
