My mother just recently went under gastric bypass. She was afraid of what types of food she would be able to eat afterwards. She loved this book.

My husband was set to have surgery the beginning of 2009 and I was worried about changing my way of cooking. I also wanted to give him something tasty and still be able to watch his protein, sugar and fat intakes. This book was not only helpful with new and exciting recipes for after bariatric surgery but was also helpful in understanding the differences between the different surgeries that are now available. I would recommend this cookbook to anyone who has had the surgery! It definitely helped me understand better what my husband needs!!

  5. Finally, a bariatric cookbook with pictures!! You all know I’ve had a bee in my bonnet about that for a while now. Not only are the full color photos tantalizing, the recipes are great too. I prepared the Oven Baked “Fried” Chicken which is a dish of chicken breasts coated with spices and rolled oats and “fried” in the oven. This recipe is very clever and very delicious. In addition to the recipes, the book gives a comprehensive overview the bariatric diet regime–all stages. It covers gastric banding, gastric bypass and, biliopancreatic diversion. The book even gives the low down on artificial sweeteners, protein powders, and a well-stocked bariatric pantry. I give this one four lap bands. [. . . ]
