Jay Johnson’s Boot Camp Fitness: Ultimate Cardio
I was really excited to get this workout because of so many people raving about his live bootcamps, unfortunately this workout is a disaster. I actually didn’t even finish the workout because it was so bad. It has no direction, and it’s confusing. I workout hard 6 days a week, mostly to DVD’s and this is by far the worst. After 20 minutes of “cardio” which is mostly getting up and down off the floor and sit ups, Jay rambles for probably three minutes. It was just bizarre. Then it went into some stretching, which is where I stopped it. This workout is just not for me. Too much stopping and starting and just standing around. Plus it was not engaging or fun in anyway. Do not get this workout if you have knee issues because the getting up and down off the floor was really hard on mine.

I’ve taken Jay’s Boot Camp in Dallas – this workout is GREAT – and it doesnt matter if you are a beginner or a pro – they have exercises for every level! VERY MOTIVATIONAL! He makes you think you can do ANYTHING! LOVE IT

This video is a truncated version of the full 10-disc 9-week boot camp kit that is sold on Jay Johnson’s website. By rotating the discs found here on Amazon you should get a very complete workout and a taste of what the full course would be. This does not cater to the home exercise market except in the fact that Jay’s boot camp is now on DVD for those not located in the Dallas area.
My husband loved it, said it gave him fond memories of boot camp (I guess this is a guy thing), and was so impressed he immediately ordered the whole 9-week boot camp kit. When he showed his buddy at work the video clip on the website, his buddy remembered some of the exercises from his boot camp, and called them off by name while watching the clip. The communication and exercise style, the motivational things Jay says, are all authentic military. This is the real deal and if you are looking for military physical training method, this is it, this will deliver.
What you get:
Choice of beginning, intermediate or advanced level, plus a customizable menu for you to design your own workout when you are familiar with the sections in the different levels. Each level follows the pattern of prep (warmup — and that’s a pretty good workout in itself), the exercises, and the recovery (cooldown).
We highly recommend this, and I believe it will appeal more to men than women, although Jay’s wife was military and appears in these videos — she and one of their instructors named Amanda have abs the likes of which I have rarely seen, so women would certainly benefit from this, it looks challenging.
